Touched

                              Touched

I have roamed the halls of hope
 And sauntered under sunny skies.
I’ve marveled at the hands of statues
 And drank from ancient fountains.
I’ve tasted the sun captured inside dried fruit
And stained my lips with homemade wine
Before sweetly falling asleep in the dark.

In quiet courtyards where nuns have prayed
 I’ve ruminated in silence.
I feel that God is still listening, his ear pressed against a wall,
For the voices of our souls are meek,
But in this place of impossible volume
Prayers and sighs and little voices
Are made to sparkle like opals.

Lives blessed with poetry such as mine,
 Who naturally dwindle in melancholy,
And appear to be intimate with the divine
Are purposed to bring wisdom to folly.
Such is the kingdom of the illumined,
Those the backhand of God has made sacred and doomed.

Mercury Retrograde in Pisces

Mercury Retrograde in Pisces

Don’t bother pinching yourself, this isn’t a dream…but it sure is going to feel like it! This week Mercury went retrograde in head in the clouds Pisces on February 17 until March 10th and the Sun also moved into Pisces on February 18th.  In addition to all this there’s a new moon in Pisces on the 23rd. Whenever Mercury goes retrograde, which is a few times a year, communication and day-to-day activities get a little wonky. Phones break, computers crash, you miss texts, just very irritating things. Since it’s happening in Pisces we can expect a lot of the mundane problems we have will be connected to plumbing, water, or flooding of some kind as well.

Thoughts in the Park

I’m in a wide-open field where it seems like the Sun is almost always shining. It’s warm here under the trees. There are people everywhere. They’re playing Frisbee, tossing footballs, and sunbathing. Some are having a picnic and drinking a bottle or two of wine with their friends. Every now and again the cool breeze brings my way the scent of a very popular herb, transporting me to the summer of love (a time period I regret missing out on, but I really had no choice in the matter.). There are readers and writers and athletes and children with their grandparents. I even saw a man walking his cat in here one day. Skyscrapers rise in the distance just in case you lose yourself; forgetting you’re in the greatest city in the world. As I write this, a group of friends nearby are drinking beer, playing games, and screaming at each other in fierce but friendly competition. I’m unbothered. There are at least 300 people in this meadow today, and there is more than enough room for everyone. Even the little birds seem to have carved out their own little space. As I sit here in Central Park, Sheep Meadow to be exact, I’m presented with a glimpse of a better world.

The Moonlight and The Black Sea

The Moonlight and the Black Sea

Imagine, if you will, you are driving to a beach house. As you arrive you drive up the narrow gravel road and see a marvelous house in the distance. It’s a perfect sunny July afternoon. As you approach you notice the house looks a little worn from the salty air and the merciless storms the sea is sure to bring, but through it all it’s still standing in magnificence. Youexit your car and a friend greets you warmly at the front door and you’re invited in.

Lately, I’ve been receiving a lot of messages from my spirit guides about where we’re headed as a country and as humans; I don’t think you need to be psychic to know that it’s not in the best direction…but there is hope. They often repeat that we are living in a time when there is no more room for false personas and the masks that people wear to disguise their true selves must be removed. This is a time for illumination and reckoning they say, no big deal right?

Meditation: Experiencing Existence

Meditation: Experiencing Existence

I like to think I’m a pretty nice guy. I’m level headed, I don’t overreact, and for what it’s worth I think I make pretty good decisions for a 25 year old. You’re probably wondering why I’m singing my own praises here. Well, that’s because I wasn’t always this way. I used to have an incredible temper. The most insignificant things would send me sailing over the edge. I would go from calm, to irritated, to enraged in about a minute. It got me in unnecessary trouble and yet for my entire life, I never knew it was a problem until I started meditating. Read More →
